Yes. We do not have ball hitch installation. Your vehicle must already have a tow hitch and have the optimal ball height for towing trailers. 18½ to 18¾ inches. This is measured from the ground to the middle of the hitch ball, prior to connecting the trailer. (Put something about Tongue weight here)
Couplers take either a 2″ or 1-7/8th” ball. The ball must also be rated for the total weight that will be towed.
To find your hitch system rating, start by examining the three trailer hitch components:
- The hitch
- The ball mount
- The trailer ball
Each component is rated for the amount of weight it can haul. The lowest rating of the three components determines the overall rating of your total hitch system. For example, if you have a 3,500 lb. hitch and ball mount with a 2,000 lb. trailer ball, your hitch system is limited to the 2,000 lb. trailer ball towing capacity
Maximum allowed towing weights for a given trailer are listed on the trailer specification table HERE as well as the required towing capacity of your vehicle.
The maximum towing capacity for your vehicle are listed in the owners manual that came with the vehicle or can be found online from your vehicle manufacturer’s website
The laws may vary from state to state. Normally, customers moving their own household goods are not required to stop, because it is not a commercial move. Please refer to state laws and regulations to determine whether you need to stop at a weigh station.
No. Our trailers are not equipped with brakes. The trailer is wired to the towing vehicle’s electrical system and brakes lights on the trailer operate at the same time brakes are applied on the towing vehicle.
Yes, a $50 deposit is required. Total payment is calculated after return of vehicle on the amount of hours used plus the $10 daily limited damage waiver fee. The deposit will be credited on the total bill.
Our trailers are for local use only. The trailer must be returned to the site in which they were originally rented.
Fishtailing or whipping is not normal. Generally, it is caused by mis-loaded cargo. Speed will make it worse. Slow down, get to a safe place where you can reposition your load and put more weight in the front of the trailer. A good rule of thumb is to put 60% of the cargo weight in the front of the trailer. Use plenty of tie-downs to keep the cargo from shifting while you travel.
- load heavier objects in front of the trailer, which is the end that is attached to the tow vehicle.
- Place about 60% of the weight of your cargo in front of the center load line as indicated in the trailer.
- Heavier items should be loaded first and lighter items can be placed on top and to the rear.
- Secure your cargo in place with rope or tie-downs. This will help protect your items and keep them from shifting during transit.
Some loads appear small but are dense and heavy. Items such as boxes of books, food products, building materials and firewood are much heavier than regular household furnishings. You may only fill the trailer 1/3 full with these types of goods before exceeding the max weight of the trailer. Sand and gravel are even heavier. Do not overload the allowed weight indicated on your contract.
Trailers are weather and water resistant. We always recommend packing your important items in waterproof containers. When moving mattresses, use mattress covers.
